Shipping Fine Art, Sustainability

ree

At Rokoff Studio, we believe that every detail matters. From the lasting nature of an original oil paintings themselves to the way your artwork arrives at your door.

Over the years, we’ve refined our shipping process to be both sustainable and incredibly durable. Our custom-built wooden crates are completely free of bubble wrap, foam, or plastic padding. That means no single-use plastics. Just thoughtful, biodegradable materials that are safe for the planet and strong enough to protect fine art in transit.

Each crate is handmade to match the exact dimensions of the painting. Whether your piece is being delivered from Kona to Honolulu, or shipped overseas, it’s carefully packed so that it arrives in perfect condition.

How do we ship original oil paintings without plastic?

Collectors often ask us how we ship large-scale paintings safely without using plastic or packing foam. The answer is thoughtful design. Each painting is suspended inside its crate using a secure floating system. We use pressure-treated wood and high-quality metal screws to anchor the frame, allowing the artwork to rest without ever touching the interior sides of the crate.

This approach protects the painting from vibration, impact, and shifting temperatures during transit. Even our largest works—up to eight feet wide—are shipped using this method. The result is a crate that is extremely strong, nearly indestructible during transit, and still compostable and biodegradable.

Crating and shipping is always complimentary when the final destination is within the U.S.

For our international collectors, we crate the paintings, and we also contribute toward delivery costs. We apply 10 percent of the painting’s purchase price toward international shipping with insured UPS or DHL services.

Each crate arrives with clear, easy-to-follow instructions for opening and unpacking. If you have questions, we’re always happy to help walk you through the process.

The shipment of the crate is one of the most important steps in acquiring a painting. With a thoughtful approach, your new painting will arrive safely to your door in perfect condition, without contributing to the landfill in the process. This approach reflects one of the chore values that guide everything we do at Rokoff Studio: intention.

If you’re a collector, designer, or curator looking for eco-friendly fine art shipping, we’re proud to offer a solution that protects both your investment and the environment.
