  • Do you provide a Certificate of Authenticity?
Yes. Every painting comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, signed by artist Alexander Rokoff and embossed with the Rokoff Studio crest. It includes the painting’s title, dimensions, medium, completion date, and provenance details. Rokoff Studio issues COAs to first-time owners of works shown exclusively at Rokoff Studio in Kona, Hawaii.
  • Are all the oil paintings original works?
Yes. We do not produce prints or reproductions. Each oil painting is a unique, original work of art signed by the artist, Alexander Rokoff.
  • Can I receive official documentation telling the story behind a painting?
Absolutely. Each painting has a unique narrative — whether inspired by Hawaii’s landscapes, underwater scenes, or personal connections. We’re happy to provide written documentation of the story and inspiration behind the piece you’re considering or commissioning.
  • Do the paintings come with a Bill of Sale?
Yes. Each painting includes a Bill of Sale with the Rokoff Studio logo, details of the sale (including price, taxes, painting details, shipping, and payment), and the signature of Gallery Director Camille Rokoff. This document does not provide insurance itself, but it is the official proof of purchase typically required if you choose to insure your painting.
  • What is the process for commissioning a painting?
Every commission begins with a personal conversation — a chance to explore your vision, the subject that inspires you, and the scale that will feel most at home in your space. From there, we prepare a tailored quote. Once approved, your place on Alexander’s easel is secured with a 50% deposit. Alexander then creates a custom digital mock-up, translating your ideas into the first glimpse of your future painting. As the work nears completion, you’ll receive a progress photo. When your painting is complete and approved, the final balance is collected. Within 10 days, it is carefully crated, fully insured, and on its way to you, ready to become part of your life and your story. If you’re considering commissioning a painting, we’ve created an online consultation to help guide you through the experience. You can begin your consultation here.
  • Can I preview what a commissioned painting will look like in my space?
Yes. We offer complimentary digital mockups so you can visualize the work in your space. Please note, an oil painting’s texture, depth, and color subtleties cannot be fully captured in a digital rendering — the mockup is for general reference only.
  • Can you match colors to my home or design project?
Yes. You can send us paint or fabric swatches, and Alexander will incorporate them into the palette. If you prefer, Alexander can send you swatches of custom-mixed paint during the commission process so you can match them to elements in your space.
  • How long does a commission take?
Most commissions are completed in 2–4 months, depending on size and complexity. We offer an expedited option if your project requires a faster turnaround — please ask about this during your consultation.
  • Do you offer private studio visits?
Yes. Rokoff Studio & Gallery in Kona, Hawaii is open Tuesday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m., and by appointment on Sunday and Monday. If you’d like to arrange a private viewing, please contact us to coordinate a time.
  • Can I meet the artist in person?
Collectors in our Private Collector Experience program have the opportunity to meet Alexander — whether in Hawaii or during his travels worldwide. This may include a private dinner and personal conversation about your painting.
  • What is the cost of shipping within the United States?
We offer complimentary shipping within the U.S.
  • Do you ship worldwide?
Yes. We ship paintings internationally, with shipping fees for destinations outside the U.S. determined on a case-by-case basis.
  • How is the artwork packaged?
Each piece is packed in a custom-built wooden crate for maximum protection. All shipments are fully insured, tracked, and require a signature upon delivery.
  • What happens if my painting arrives damaged?
Our crates are designed to withstand significant impact, and damage is extremely rare. If it occurs, we’ll arrange for the painting to be returned to the studio, repaired, and shipped back to you at no cost.
  • Do you use sustainable packaging when shipping artwork?
Yes. Every painting from Rokoff Studio is shipped in a custom wooden crate built for both durability and sustainability. These crates are extremely sturdy and designed to protect your painting through every step of its journey. We avoid plastic and bubble wrap, instead using natural materials that are compostable and biodegradable whenever possible. It's our way of ensuring your artwork arrives safely while minimizing environmental impact.
  • Do you help with installation?
For collectors on the Big Island, we recommend Island Eclectic Hawaii (www.islandeclectichi.com) for professional installation. While we don’t provide referrals for installers outside the Big Island, we’re happy to share detailed instructions for our preferred installation method — ensuring your painting is displayed securely and beautifully, exactly as it was intended.
  • Do you offer framing services?
We do not offer in-house framing. Locally, we recommend Colette’s Custom Framing. Outside of Hawaii, American Frame (www.americanframe.com) is an option with a strong online reputation.
  • What’s the best way to light my painting?
We recommend warm LED lighting between 4000–5000K, with a CRI of at least 90. For detailed lighting fixture and placement tips, see our blog: Lighting for Oil Paintings.
  • How do I care for my oil painting?
Occasionally dust with a clean, dry paintbrush about 3" wide. Use gentle, long strokes across the entire width and height of the painting. You can use the same brush for the top, sides, and frame.
  • Can my painting be hung in direct sunlight?
Oil paintings can tolerate varied environments, but like most fine art, prolonged direct sunlight is best avoided. That being said, natural light that changes throughout the day can enhance subtle tones and create a dynamic viewing experience.
  • What are your payment options?
We accept credit cards, bank transfers, Venmo, and financing through Affirm.
  • Do you offer returns or exchanges?
Due to the nature of original art, all sales are final. If you have any concerns, please contact us. Our goal is to ensure that you’ll love your painting for a lifetime.
