SONGBIRD is a captivating painting that explores the dynamic interplay between opposites: dark and light, hard and soft, scarcity and abundance, sustenance and play. The saffron finch brings a touch of light and melody to the rugged existence of Hawaiian Island goats, symbolizing resilience and hope.

The composition itself showcases a visual yin-yang effect, seamlessly blending contrasting elements of light and dark, creating a harmonious balance.

Set against the backdrop of a lava road leading to Makalavena Beach, SONGBIRD hides intriguing details that tell the story of the goats' life on the Big Island of Hawaii. From a small queen's bath symbolizing abundant freshwater to pockets of lush green grass providing sustenance, and a protective lava tube offering shelter from storms, every element adds depth to the narrative.

This original oil painting measures an striking 6 feet by 4 feet, making it a true statement piece that not only sparks conversation but also infuses a playful atmosphere into any space.

  • We had the pleasure of meeting them on our family vacation. My daughter and husband went in the studio and had a wonderful conversation about all his different works. We all had to go back the next day. I knew I couldn't leave without one piece of his work. We visited the little shop area several more times during our visit eating dolewhip and watching him either painting or teaching. It was a great experience. We hope they we still be around next time we visit. What a great God given talent! - Christine Finks
