King Phoenix is the fourth in a series commemorating the beautiful, wild jungle fowl on the Island of Hawai'i. Alexander was inspired to paint King Phoenix because of his lush turquoise and rust colored plumage which reminded Alexander of the southwest where Alexander grew up. The name King Phoenix calls back to the southwest region of the United State as well as the resilience required of wild animals.
